The edification sector is one of the main economic driving forces that has an evident effect on the society and the cultural values the heritage involves.

Society keeps demanding more building quality, which impacts directly on the structural security and fire protection as well as other aspects related to people’s wellbeing, such as noise protection, thermal insulation or accessibility for handicapped people. Anyway, the edification process always implies a functional, economic, harmonious and balanced environment compromise due to its direct impact on the space configuration. This compromise is highly relevant from a general interest point of view.

One of the basic characteristics in edification is that it is an artificial building in a determined space. This means that edifications in nature cannot be found, being these a product of human invention and realization. On the other hand, edifications always require a complex planning, designing and realization system that leads to the investment of a certain amount of time, capital and material (these amounts will vary according to the edification complexity).

Depending on the use of the edification, the building procedures will be diverse. Those edifications used for living or other human activities will also imply the appearance of buying and selling systems whereas other edifications like monuments will not require such transactions.

COANFI combines a three generation experience in building and a management process entirely developed for COANFI where the optimization of building processes and costs are put together, as a result of the management process called “COANFI MODEL”.


Civil constructions is where physic, chemical, geological and calculating knowledge are applied in order to build different infrastructures, hydraulic and transport constructions. “Civil” receives its denomination from the existing difference with military engineering.

There is also an organizational component mainly applied on cities and usually applied on rural settings; not only referred to construction but also to maintenance and control of the buildings. This involves land use planning where we can find: disaster preventions, traffic and transport control, use of water resources, public services, household waste pick-up service and every activity that guarantees the well-being of those living in civil constructions built and operated by engineers.

Necessary KNOWLEDGE to carry out this activity:

  • Calculation of efforts and structure deformations considering different actions.
  • Materials to be used in the building realization
  • Land behavior depending on the structures leaning on it.
  • Hydrology, in order to calculate floods and flow-rates for dams or waterwheels constructions, bridge lights oversizing etc.
  • Dimensioning calculation techniques.
  • Aesthetic, history and art surroundings, landscape etc, etc.
  • And of course, procedures, techniques and machinery necessary knowledge for the application of afore mentioned knowledge.

Usually, there exist a great number of technical solutions for one problem, and many times none of them are clearly preferable to another. It is the building company duty to be aware of all of them in order to discard the less suitable ones and focus just on the most promising, which will lead to a saving in time and money. It is also indispensable for the company to know the different ways of realization of the adopted solution and the available machinery. Furthermore, the building company must be able to assess the possible problems that might appear during the construction and then make the correct decision taking into account social and environmental aspects.

Due to all afore mentioned and apart from having a solid training, it is crucial for the company to be specialized, have technical knowledge and  be experienced so that it is possible for the company to detect the problem and adopt reliable solutions used in the past.

COANFI is CLASSIFIED as K07 contractor by the Ministry of the Treasury for the building realization of RESTORING ARTISTIC AND HISTORICAL BUILDINGS.

In COANFI we carry out activities related to the creation of hydraulic infrastructures, special building foundations, metallic and prefabricated concrete structures, paving, industrial district developments and every kind of social constructions and infrastructures around urban centers.


About historic conservation and building or heritage monuments renovation, we must make reference to the process of renovation of historical buildings so that they look as they used to in a concrete period of time as well as to the protection of its heritage value.

The work is usually carried out in order to take care of the decadency or the modifications in the building after its initial construction. Part of the patrimony renovation may lead to changes in obsolete heating and cooling systems as well as the installation of weather controllers non-existing at the time of its construction.

As foreseen by the Law, any property or movable object of an artistic, historic, paleontological, archeological, ethnographic, scientific or technical interest can be designed as Cultural Heritage Site by the competent authority. Documental and library heritage, archeological sites, gardens or park of an artistic, historic or anthropological interest can also be declared Cultural Heritage Sites.

COANFI, having the necessary technical and human means, is specialized in renovation and landscaping belonging to a historic and artistic heritage.
